Welcome to the Corson's Cream
BLOG FEED.

We're Ben and Linda Corson, a couple who embarked on a remarkable journey nearly 50 years ago, seeking a life in harmony with nature and reducing our dependence on the cash economy. Our farm, nestled in the beautiful countryside of North Idaho, holds a rich history and a deep-rooted passion for preserving rare and endangered breeds of domestic livestock.

Our love for horses and the adventures they bring didn't come until much later, but it became a driving force in our pursuit of sustainable farming practices. With the mechanization and commoditization of agriculture changing the landscape, we saw draft horse farming as a way to not only save the Earth but also revive the vibrant traditional rural cultures we hold dear.

Our dedication led us to focus on the American Cream Draft Horse, the rarest of all the draft breeds in North America. Although it presented numerous challenges, we embarked on a journey across the United States, from Oregon to Mississippi and many places in between, in search of these magnificent creatures. We not only found the horses but also collected horse-drawn tools and implements that were once commonplace, ensuring our farm remained deeply connected to its roots.

Recognizing the need for proper facilities, we designed and built a remarkable barn that caters to all our equine needs. This barn stands as a testament to our commitment, featuring stalls, runs, an upper hay mow, and various rooms for essential functions. The barn also includes living quarters for our barn Son and daughter-in-law, providing a true sense of community.

As time went on, our farm continued to grow and evolve, thanks to the support of our children, friends, and skilled local contractors. We expanded our infrastructure, improved our water supply, and embraced every opportunity to fulfill our dream of a self-sufficient farm and a thriving draft horse operation.

Reflecting on our humble beginnings, we're overwhelmed by how much has changed over the past 30 years. Our farm stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment and the incredible support we've received. We invite you to join our warm and vibrant community, where the love for nature, horses, and sustainable farming practices thrives. Together, let's embark on this incredible journey of discovery and growth.

CHARLIE BROWN

1998 Pony of the Americas

HEIGHT: 13.2hh

Charlie is the old man of the barn. He was Brint’s pony when he was growing up and he did anything Brint wanted - Pony Club, Hunter, dressage, trail. He came home to us after the family we sold him to retired him. Mostly, he is retired, though he does participate in lessons when he feels like it and he is available to be leased.
